Embodied Anatomy Study Group – Currently Studying The Axial Skeleton
There is something in nature that forms patterns. We, as part of nature, also form patterns. The mind is like the wind and the body is like the sand; if you want to know how the wind is blowing, you can look at the sand.
~ Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen
What is embodied anatomy? Does it matter?
“Embodied Anatomy” is a way to bring the mind and body back together!
And, without this practice, we are not capable of effectively creating and living in our radically changing world!!!
Just take our skeleton!
the basic form through which we:
– locomote through space, (get there)
– act on our environment, (meet its challenges)
– sculpt the energy forms in space we call movement!
By embodying our skeletal system, we will never again be able to let unconscious attitudes like slumping, or spine injuring moves, or mental chaos, control our future.
Our mind becomes structurally organized,
providing the
supportive ground for our thoughts, the
leverage for ideas, and the
fulcrums or spaces between our ideas for the
articulation and understanding of their relationships.
Embodiment of the Skeletal System provides the foundation for the
psycho-physical qualities of
clarity, effortlessness and form.
Wow, that would be a wonderful way to have studied anatomy in school, yes?
