It’s a Slow Beginning

Governor Celeste’s Inaugural Service
Dance and Music Reflection

The Governor and Dagmar Celeste invited us to create and perform a participatory dance reflection and music ceremony as the finale of the inaugural ecumenical religious service in the Archdiocese Cathedral in Ohio’s capital in 1987. Written and performed by Fanchon Shur, with music written and performed by Bonia Shur. A challenging and uplifting poetic narration through dance and music ending with the entire congregation dancing and singing the final prayer. This was (and still is) a groundbreaking style of participatory celebration.
Ohio Unity Choir directed by Todd O’Neal, and Newman Center Musicians directed by Pete McClernon.
